05 Dec The house that should be on your bucket list!
Close your eyes and think of the most charming American residence, surrounded by trees and ridges, where music is playing everywhere and more fireplaces are crisping than you can count. Imagine a mansion where the elegance and the kindness of the innkeepers match the beauty of the mountains. At the Yellow House Bed and Breakfast in Waynesville, North Carolina, this is reality. It is a neo-classical house with a large history and history making continues. This beautiful house dates from 1885 when the famous Lykes family (meat) built this extraordinary Yellow House on Plott Creek Rd as a summer residence. After this family, several senators lived in the house before it became a popular bed and breakfast. And since 4 months, this Bed and Breakfast has a new owner. And they are super excited to bring their own warmth to this house by redoing almost everything while staying true to the theme of the original house.
The Yellow House Bed and Breakfast!
Even though the owners have the Bed & Breakfast only for four months, they are doing everything to make sure that every desire is completely met and surpassed. The gracious hospitality of the owners of The Yellow House is truly never ending. It starts in the morning with a warm cup of tea or coffee, followed by an amazing breakfast. In the evening wine and cheese are waiting for you and they were very excited to listen to our stories and adventures that we had in their neighbourhood. The Yellow House on Plott Creek Rd. enables you to go back in time, in the most comfortable and luxurious way. The 5 acre grounds are filled with ponds and gardens, pine trees and rhododendrons, where all the birds are singing. In the afternoon you can sit down in the library and read one of the many books, including the one about the Yellow House on Plott Creek Rd. At night you can enjoy yourself at the fireplace or go out for dinner in the small but lively town Waynesville.
Breakfast at The Yellow House!
So I have never been this excited to get out of of bed! Because I knew that there was a breakfast waiting for me that was seriously out of this world. Every morning we were surprised by a true food party (and the warmest smiles). We started with some delicious fresh fruits, granola and yogurt. And after this intro, the most delicious french toast or egg soufflé was brought to the table. And to top it all off, we got to enjoy this breakf(e)ast in the most beautiful dining room. Again, you hear the music in the background. After you had your breakfast, you can have a coffee and a fresh baked cookie on the comfortable wrap-around veranda. All day long you can grab a warm cup of tea and there are chocolates on every table you’ll pass. And not to mention the wine that you could enjoy when you sat down near one of the many fireplaces. Another very welcome surprise was the cheese-platter that was brought to the living room around 5pm. Here guests could come together and enjoy a glass of fine, some of the finest cheese and listen to each others adventures.
The carriage house
The Yellow House Bed & Breakfast has ten different suites and rooms, all with it’s own theme and character. We stayed at the carriage house, one of the beautiful suites at the Inn. It was a very spacious, luxurious and quiet room of English country design, with a private balcony over the most beautiful view over the garden and the mountains. The carpet and the antik wooden floors bring you back in time. It also had a little seating area, a desk and a kitchen. The bed was so magnificent that we had to use a little step to get into the bed. My favorite feature of the room was the whirlpool tub that was in the centre of the room. Here we could relax to the max, while the music was playing in the background and the fire place was crisping. The bathroom was also wonderfully romantic as the rest of the room.
