Our stay in Kansas City: The Fontaine Hotel

If you have been following me, you probably know about my love for the United States and my passion for discovering new places. So, when we were planning our trip from Salt Lake City to Kansas City, with stops in Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Cody and Denver we knew this trip was a great recipe for success. However, it exceeded all our expectations and Kansas City was the cherry on top.

We were very keen to stay at The Fontaine Hotel, not only because of the appealing and sophisticated looks of the hotel, but also because this boutique hotel is located in the heart of Kansas City and in the finest upscale shopping Country Club Plaza. It’s a prime destination for the traveling corporate and leisure world with a lot of restaurants and other amenities around the corner.Bag-at-you---Kansas-City-Hotel---The-FontaineBag-at-you---The-Fontaine-Bed-roomBag-at-you---The-Fontaine-Hotel---Bed

When you enter the hotel over the custom tile mosaics that were inset into the marble floor, you are first warmly welcomed by the staff. I loved getting a complimentary coffee and enjoying it on the terrace or in the lobby. The big painting and the adorned walls were very impressive as well as the chandelier. From the lobby we could take one of the two elevators up to our room. I was immediately charmed by the views, the big rain shower and the incredible bed.

Even though it was hard to leave that fine sleeping bed, I was excited in the morning as we had breakfast at Parker on the top floor. Our favorites were the salmon bagel and the green smoothie bowl, but the French toast and breakfast burrito were also very good.

From there it was only 14 steps to the rooftop pool, boosting a scenic infinity pool. It was a really nice hang out, again very sophisticated with utterly relaxed vibes, completely in line with the rest of the hotel. We often went here for a morning dip as well as for drinks and snacks in the afternoon. I mean, what is better than a cold beer and some fries while your legs are in the water?

If you’re traveling to Kansas City from out of town or looking for a staycation, this upscale boutique hotel should definitely be on your radar. It was also pretty kid-friendly, so next time we visit Kansas City, we are sure to bring little Bo and stay at The Fontaine Hotel again.
